Hi, I’m Maggie!

Author, coffee lover, and proud Northern Rivers local (that’s the East Coast of Australia, just south of the Queensland border for my international fans.). I spend my days writing, hanging out with my young adult boys(when they will tolerate me!). I am always shopping and keeping the kitchen stocked—boys eat a lot! My daughter has long since flown the coop and comes over for meals and just to hang out.

I moved to Australia from the U.S. in 1996 after meeting my husband online—way before it was cool. After years in marketing and community work, I returned to my first love: writing.

My debut memoir, SPLIT: a life shared, living with Multiple Personality Disorder, launched in May 2024 to international success. It is an honest look at life with Dissociative Identity Disorder—the challenges, the resilience, and the hope that comes from telling the truth of my life.

My second book, Fractured Motherhood, comes out in April 2026. It tells the story of adopting our three kids while exploring motherhood, trauma, and breaking generational cycles of abuse—with plenty of love and laughter along the way.

I’ve been lucky to learn from incredible mentors and be a part of great writing communities, like the Byron Writers Festival. I am continually inspired to keep stretching my writing muscles.

Living with DID means I share my mind with other individuals, my alters, or as I call them, The Girls, who helped me survive a childhood full of abuse. Most people wouldn’t even know I’m multiple unless I told them. Today, I use my story to help others understand complex trauma and mental health, dispelling myths, and talking about how we can all support those around us.

I send the occasional email update—only when there’s something worth sharing! Feel free to sign up here!

In a nutshell, I am a Pom who immigrated to Texas at the age of three. As an adult, I moved to Colorado and eventually met my Aussie husband online. and moved to Australia, where we adopted three children from the Philippines. My children are my heart, my light, and my joy.

I enjoy watching the Brisbane Broncos (and still follow the Denver Broncos for that matter!) and have quiet addictions to Grey's Anatomy, West Wing, Outlander, and The Diplomat.

Social Media ... an easy way to follow what I'm doing!
